Day 48 (Sept 10, 2024) to Baie-Comeau, QC

Today's drive was 208 miles of alternating paved and unpaved roads with intermittent construction leading to single lane traffic. For many, a timer indicated how long the wait was- the worst was over 300 seconds.  We experienced the kindness of truck-drivers - a feature we have noticed many times over the last several weeks - as two independently waved us past once the timer ran out so we didn't have to wait and follow them on the windy, hilly roads.

Muddy roads left the Lambo so dirty that it no longer looks yellow from the back

The drive was full of steep, windy hills along a 2-land road - at times it felt like a roller coaster.

We drove directly to the hike we had picked rather than our hotel, it was the number 1 hike in Baie-Comeau and along the St. Lawrence River.  While the hike was really great in spots- incredibly well-marked with red and white blazes and beautiful views along the river it was also a bit in shambles, with large trees to climb over/under or trudge around, lots of mud. After about 3 miles, we bailed and found a different (although perhaps more muddy) path back to a road to get to our car. In total, the hike was about 5.5 miles.

Along the St Lawrence River

Our hotel tonight is Hotel le Manior Baie-Comeau with beautiful views of the river.
