Day 9 (August 2, 2024) Montreal QC to Quebec City QC

Our drive was 3 hours today (170 miles) which we broke up with a stop for lunch at Le Rouge Vin in Trois-Rivieres along the St. Lawrence River.  

We arrived in Quebec City around 3:30 and hurried over to explore the Citadel. Upon arriving we were greeted by a soldier who informed us the Citadel was still an active military base and invited us to watch the changing of the guard that was about to take place. 

We walked back to hotel along the La Promenade des Gouverneurs or the "Stairway to the Citadelle" - fortunately we were going down, not up!  Cool fact: as there are no laws on alcohol consumption on ice, pop-up bars open on the St. Lawrence River once it freezes over in the winter.
