Day 19 (August 12, 2024) Brier Island

 Today we saw whales!

We started the day off early with a lovely 6 mile hike passing by 2 "Seal Coves" both of which delivered. We watched the seals trade off sunning on the rocks while we did the same a few rocks away. The first Seal Cove had several babies and the second had adults we could hear barking at least a mile away.

Morning hike to Seal Cove

The morning light was exquisite

We grabbed some sandwiches at the sole Brier Island local store, ate our lunch on the cliffside and then headed over for our whale watching tour. We saw at least 5 humpback whales. The guides on the tour (Mariner Cruises) were super friendly, knowledgeable, and really engaged in teaching everyone about whales.

Dinner was in the hotel restaurant for a second round- and again was excellent.

Overall, we would absolutely recommend a visit to Brier Island. It was beautiful, full of wildlife and very friendly, happy people.
